Sorry my credit finished while we were talking. You didn't tell me about 'moushing'; I actually started a pilot farm on January 19th on my balcony but they were not doing very well due to ants. I got up to 240 snails but I have lost close to 100 snails even after I moved them to site and built a pen; ocassionally I find dead snails. the juvinelles are also dying though I have not been able to provide a separate pen for them. The arrangement is in progress. My major problem is ants. I feed them with ugu leaves intially, when I introduced plantain and pawpaw; they started rejecting ugu. Presently they eat majorly pawpaw; maybe that explains the ants. There is never a left over.

Moushing is using dry leaves like banana/plantain leaves to cover half-part of the snail pen to increase the humidity level of the snail pens.It also helps in maintaining original colour/beauty of the snails.
Make sure you wet your snail pens regularly,otherwise the snails will be drying out.Also provide artificial shade/tents for the snails.
When serving ripe pawpw, serve it in plastic trays otherwise it will attract ants to your snail pen.The supplementary feed should also be serve in plastic trays.
Do not let them be used to one particular food,always rotate the feed.

From Your Student on Snail Farming

Morn how are you today? hope fine. thank God. ok yest when we called you it was a bit noisy. we are in the process of constructing the snail pen pls tell me what and what to do to avoid mistakes. i sent tex to you in yr o802 but owo said you did not receive it. i complained that i bought snails but some days after some died, i guess cos of heat. i did small free range type. question one - what causes death of snail. also as i want to start how many snail pen is advisable to construct? also since i an not leaving close by, is it something you will help me get someone who is knowleageble on how to look after snails or do i use the gatemen or we shall arrange for you to come and tell them what to do. pls advice i dont want losses. or do i visist ota say 3 times in a week to manage the snail farm. i know i will be coming also but not always cos of distance. snail food for small snails do we get cheaper yr side? you also mentioned about the soil combination for point of lay pen ..... and for baby snails. one 50 loamy and 50 sandy you will help us in this. also the net issue. in the one i constructed here i noticed the very tiny snails coming out cos we buried the eggs b4 i brought in the snails - at times when it rains, i see them most times i dont but they are very very tiny.
please tell me major causes of death in snail farming. how many snails - point of lay do i buy at initial stage and tell me yr last prices. thank you pls help me in whatsoever way. thanks mrs nnorom , mobil xxxxxxxxx you can tex or email. pls give me all the info i need to know. i am interested in this snail farming not jus recently but for a long time now. i bt 21 pieces and about 10 died - one man bought sharp sand and poured everything on top of them so i noticed that if was buried inside the soil and some about 10 survived. his view snails like sharp sand. i have bogt 10 again and they are doing well. at times i bring them out to examine them. their food you said it includes potoatoes, peeled and unpleel, yam back etc. the ones i bt is not the one that is point of lay but meduim sizes. advice me when they will be ok how many months to be big? i give this and dat egg shells etc not always. thank you. i noticed is like achantina achantina and achantina magina is among what i bght when i examine them. i am now talking like a teacher. thanks so much and regards to madam and kids.

Please refer to the training manual and the Vcd on snail farming-all the answers to your questions are there.
You can still manage the gatemen by motivating them,so they can take good care of the snails.I also advise that you arrange a day training on snail farming for them.
About while the snails are dieing- the sources of your breeding stock are very important.I aslo advise you atleast get your first set of breeding stocks from us, THE THY CENTRE TEL:08023050835.then learn in the process.

Please i have some problem with my snails. for some time now, they have stopped laying eggs. what could be the problem? Most of the snails where bought from you. what solution do you have for that kind of situation?

Poor feeding can cause it.Solution feed varities of food - including supplementry feed.Introduce muching,this is by covering half/part of the snail pen with dried banana/plantain leaves,so as to increase the humidity level of the snail pen.Serve egg shell as well.
